FAVOURITE FERRO MONK SYSTEMS ROMPS IN - FULL REPORT
The going was good at Wetherby Racecourse as favourite Ferro Monk Systems pulled off another memorable victory to help secure their position as one of the UK’s most respected thoroughbreds.
In what was a late fixture, Ferro Monk were asked to provide a quotation to reline two culverts at the edge of the famous racecourse which then run under the adjoining B1224 York Road.
An earlier survey had shown that the two stone culverts, both 500mm wide and an average of 750mm high, were in very poor condition.
Other work was already being carried out at the venue by Souters Sports and time was at a premium. There were also important environmental considerations including measures to prevent pollution to the site and its surroundings and to minimise the risk of damage to the racecourse itself.
The decision was taken to install both liners simultaneously, to reduce disruption to the course and time on site. On completion of the lining operations, curing water was pumped into tankers for disposal off site since both culverts ran into freshwater ditches.
The Result: Works completed according to plan, on time, within budget and without incident.
